I am in love with the Ali Baba Grill in Golden, so I was ecstatic to see that they have another location close to work. It seemed like great place to grab a quick, inexpensive, yet delicious, lunch. Well.....they got 2 out of 3 right. The lunch prices are perfect. You can order a plate, which includes a salad and rice, for around $8. Or you can order a sandwich for about $5. I went with the gyro meat plate, and got an ala carte lamb kabob for $3.50. What a steal! I had plenty leftover for lunch the next day. Definitely ask for a side of their spicy sauce with your meal... it's not very spicy, but adds a great flavor to the meat. Oh, and as previously mentioned, the falafels are to die for! Now for what they got wrong: the service. S-L-O-W! It took forever to finally put in our order. After waiting at least 15 min, I had to go up and ask the server to come to our table so we could order. Once it was finally put in, it didn't take that long for the food to come out. But then we did have to wait awhile to pay once we were finished. I definitely will go back, as I am a huge fan of their food...just not when I'm pressed for time.

This place is on our frequently visited list for lunches in DTC. We've been going there since they opened and it is always good. However, our last visit this week was exceptional! Three of us split an order of hummus and it was even better than ever. Creamy, tasty and just enough to get lunch started. Two of us ordered the salad with gyros. Lots of perfectly cooked gyros piled high on top of a crisp bed of mixed greens, kalamata olives, feta and just the right amount of dressing. Seriously, the dressing did not steal the show by being either too much or overly spicy, it was just right. The salad is such a great value you really can take some of it home - but before you know it - it is soooo good, you've speared the last olive out of the bowl. The third in our party ordered the lamb lunch entree and it was super tasty when she shared bites with us. Add in excellent, speedy service and the 'colorful' decor and Ali Baba is a super great lunch place in DTC!

This place is real sad the employes (I mean the waitress) doesn't care about her customers and her job 1. Set us at a table that wasn't cleaned 2. Sat us at a table for 4 when we have 5 and we had to ask for another chair 3. Took a wile to get are drink order and didn't even ask us if would like anything else 4. Asked for lemon for water and took forever to get to us. And what's really funny I just watched a guy get mad about the service he got his own plates, silver ware and water SO SAD!!!!!!

BEST Hummus hands down in CO I've had! The mahamara is amazing too! I've never liked boba gaboush and this place completely changed my mind. Staff is always extremely friendly!

It's such a treat to go to a restaurant and have every single thing you and your friend try be absolutely, wonderfully good. Tonight we got that experience at the Ali Baba Grill. The salad was fresh and tangy. The lentil soup was amazing, cooked to perfection, the wine was a perfect compliment and the hummus was creamy and smooth. The Bamya with Okra was out of the this world! Hands down the best lamb I've had. My shrimp scampi and vegetables was fresh and delicious, the huge shrimp were cooked perfectly and the zesty sauce was the perfect compliment. The baklava was outstanding! It was thin, light, flaky, with the perfect savory nut and sweet honey balance. My new favorite restaurant.

Been here once, and here are four things you should know: 1. The grilled meats are really good. The stars of the show. Get them. 2. They seem to shy away from lemon and salt in their veggie dishes (Hummus, Baba, etc). I rarely salt my food, but I think it needed it. Lemon is such a welcome part of middle eastern food, and I was surprised at the lack of it. 3. The King Combo is a bit of many different dishes for those into samplers, and with an app or two is great to share. 4. Their chai is a super-sweet, Americanized drink. It wasn't bad, and you might like it, but it isn't really chai as I see it. I'll be back for the kabobs.

I was in Denver earlier this week for work. Found this place on Yelp and saw it was only a couple of miles from my hotel and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. I ordered the King Combo which included the selections from the meat and veggie combos. It had lamb, beef, kibideh hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, dolmades, and salad. Everything was pretty good, and it was definitely enough to make two meals out of. The lamb was a little chewy. The kibideh was really good. I liked the rice 'cause it was nice and lemony. The service wasn't great. At one point they took my water....to refill it I thought. But after several minutes I still hadn't gotten my water and had to ask for it twice. Speaking of twice, they brought me my bill twice. They did offer me extra pita though when I asked for a to-go box. Sevice=3, Food=4, Value=4, Overall=4

I can't say enough good things about this place. The chai tea is addicting. The grilled mushrooms are amazing. The hummus is delicious. I usually get the lamb kabobs, and with exception of one occasion, they are tender, juicy, perfectly marinaded, and amazingly satisfying. The staff is friendly and attentive. Rarely have I gone in this location (usually after 6pm M-F, or on a weekend), and found it too busy. There's usually enough parking in the back as long as people going to Hapa or one of the local upscale bars haven't taken the spaces near this restaurant. Delicious rice, grape leaves, bread, the list goes on and on. If you like Middle Eastern food, this place is a must-try!

Went here for Yelp DTC Lunch gathering and so glad I did!!! My husband had mentioned this place to me before but I'm not sure if I would have gone out of my way to check it out. I ended up ordering the Falafel sandwich for a whopping $5!! It comes wrapped in a giant yummylicous pita bread. The portion is HUGE. No need to order the side of fries unless you just really love french fries are are starving!! In fact, I tried to calculate (more or less) the calories in this lunch item and it's approximately 600 so it's more than plenty of food for lunch. The falafel was delicious as were the other items in my "sandwich." I'll DEFINITELY be back to try some of the other items on the menu!! The company was fabulous...of course

This restaurant is in my top 3 restaurant for several reason, authentic Mediterranean food, services, quality and quantity . Good taste. The king combo is my favorite.

Top Hummus, cheap pita sandwiches rule! Today was the July edition of the DTC Lunch Club, the fast growing cadre of Yelpers looking for an excuse to eat together, like we need it. I called in a reservation for 8, they had a neat "reserved" sign on our table. Can you say A-List? I love their hummus! Smooth, creamy, with a hint of garlic and lemon. One minor nit is I'd prefer the pita bread warmed up. Main dish was they Gyros sandwich. For 4.95, this is one overstuffed wrap. And delicious. Service was efficient, and upbeat. And the company top notch!

We live in the DTC area and love Alibaba. The food is good and the price is affordable for its location. The service could be more attentive. We avoid having dinner there for the lack of service during their peak hours. Their best teaser is grilled mushroom. The best entree we have tried so far is Lamb Kafta with the in house salsa.

I am hesitant to write a review because I don't want this place to become crowded! It's so yummy! I always leave with leftovers to take home which is nice - they give me sooo much chicken! The humus is amazing, it's a must for every time. Truly love this place

There are few times that food just makes you happy, and today I had one of those experiences. I went to Ali Baba Grill in the middle of the afternoon today and wasn't sure if I should go in as there was hardly anyone inside and I'd never been there before. I went in based on the positive reviews on yelp and it was a wonderful decision. I have been in Colorado for about 18 months so I am still finding places to try. I walked in and the place was almost empty. The menu looked very typical for Mediterranean food but I was pleased by that, as that was what I was looking for. I ordered the grilled mushrooms and a Gyro. I waited and was pleased to note that the order was being made fresh. When my order arrived and I took a bite of the mushrooms and knew I would be back. They were absolutely delicious. I could go back just for the mushrooms if I never ate anything else. I also enjoyed the Gyro. What I enjoyed was the taste of the beef and lamb not just the beef that you may get when you go to a chain type restaurant. I can absolutely say I will be back. I can't wait to try their felafel.

    (4)
  • N C.

Definitely have had much better Mediterranean food. Had a chicken kabob, lamb kabob, and the mushrooms. All were too salty, especially the chicken and the mushrooms. The chicken was way overdone, dry, and even slightly charred along the edges. The spices were so-so. The baba ganouj was decent, and the hummus was decent. The rice was good, but it's hard to ruin plain rice. Would not go back. I went with a vendor, and she did not like it either- same issues...way too salty, overdone meat, and spice usage was not great. There is a restaurant off Grant and Colfax (Shish Kabob Grill) that is the only decent place I have found (so far) in the Denver area.

Heart-shaped falafels?!?! My waiter came by and said "yup!" at my amazement. Sorry, I am a sucker for all things pretty/girly. The food was decent and aplenty. I loved the lamb kebobs. The chicken shwarma was a little on the dry side. Service was good and I wish I had more room in my belly to try more goodies!!!

Went to Ali Baba on my birthday and had an hour to kill before my massage. Since I was starving, decided to stop by and try it out. The decor was beautiful inside. I arrived around 1-ish during the lunch menu special. I was seated quickly and decided on the gyros. With the lunch special, you also get a salad. After the salad, my gyros plate arrived quickly with rice and pita bread and hummus. The food was absolutely amazing and I do love Middle Eastern food. The meat was well-seasoned and succulent. I've been dreaming about Ali Baba all week and will have to go back next week. The lunch special is $7.95 and I had enough for a second lunch. Can't wait to go back.

I went here for dinner with my wife the other night and we ordered the Lebanese meat platter for two. We also got some mint tea. The waiter was fairly attentive and kept bringing me more of the excellent tea I was guzzling, and the kebabs were very tasty, along with the felafel and hummus. I was looking forward to some Turkish coffee and baklava for dessert when the waiter came by and dropped our check on the table without a word and walked away. Feeling like we were being rushed out the door, we paid our bill and left. Everything was great until one big fail. Otherwise this would have been 4 stars.

Awesome sauce! My buddy Shean from Tynan's VW took me here for dinner. We basically hit up a massive amount of awesomeness. Great service, the atmosphere was all of a good time, comfy couches/table seats. I could pretty much eat there 2-3 meals a day...

Loved their chicken shwarma plate! Delicious food for a great price in a great location.

Well we have been there twice, and both times there was the same highs and lows. We ordered the falafels both times and they are super yummy, more fluffy than I have ever seen before. If you like spicy, ask for the spicy sauce when you order the hummus..... really good! We ordered the chicken kabob both times as well, and both times they were kind of dry.

This is by far the best lunch spot in the Landmark! Gyros are huge, delicious and a mega bargain at $4.95. I've had the traditional gyros sandwich, and the chicken schwarma (sp?) and they are so good that I haven't been able to try anything new. The service is quick and great! We love this lunch spot! It is now officially in our weekly rotation. I used to have a stand-by for Mediterranean food, and I thought that it would never get any better, but Ali Baba Grill is setting a new bar for me.

    (4)
  • P B.

Their falafal is unique. It's rolled in corriander seeds before frying. Everything else I've had here is also delicious, but when I get a hankering for falafal, I crave those little heart shaped falafal morsels from ABG. I can make baba ganoush, hummus & tabouli myself....but I cannot produce falafal like this. The chain falafal purveyors do not compare. If you like cilantro & corriander....get yourself to ABG for falafel. The bottom level of the garage at Landmark is never full...save time & head downward if the ground level looks jammed.

FRESH delicious food, good service, reasonable prices, and authentic. Can't ask for much more! Really excited one just opened up close to be at University and Evans.

    (5)
  • Peter H.

ABG is a fairly solid Middle Eastern restaurant. Their Baba ghanoush is special and the meats are usually grilled to perfection. The meat combo could be a meal for two. Service can be really rough when they're packed, so come with some extra patience.

I asked them If someone's lebanese grandmother was in the kitchen. The lamb stew had the flavors you'd expect from the grandmother who has labored with love for hours on the family's dinner. I am going to be a regular.

  • Derek K.

Very good authentic tasting Mediterranean. I've gone back twice to get the chicken shawarma again, and will be going back. Also, very nicely decorated inside -- not quite what you expect when walking in.

    (4)
  • Terry B.

I've been on a bit of a Middle Eastern kick lately and decided to check this place out for lunch. The atmosphere is nice and quiet with Fox News playing on the TV. (why does it seem all restaurants with TVs play Fox News--not that I'm complaining, just curious?) Service was prompt and the food very tasty. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma lunch special which includes rice, a salad and the chicken shawarma itself. Portions here are huge, (especially given the price) and I couldn't finish it all in one sitting, but the flavors are incredible. If I had more experience with Middle Eastern cuisine and could vouch for its authenticity I may give it 5 stars.

I just found out it CLOSED :( so sad this place was my favorite restaurant in Denver. There are two other locations but not as good in my opinion.

  • Josh d.

This might have been the best Mediterranean food I've had in Denver, before they closed. Looks like they're re-opening within [a long] walking distance from my pad. #SorryNotSorry this location closed, since it seems to have forced their hand on the new location (or at least, that's what it sounded like when I was there) Service was slow to acknowledge me (I was a little confused by their set up, so that might be on me...) - Enough to the point that I got kind of upset. I hated the space though... So minus 1 star for that. Hopefully they don't decorate the new spot to look like Istanbuls' Grand Bazaar's asshole.

What an awesome place!!! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is very authentic and inviting. The hummus is amazing and the babaganoush is my favorite. I am a huge fan of the gyros but the kabobs are my second favorite. Grab dinner here before a movie at the landmark and you are set!

First time here for my wife and I and this place is utterly ridiculous..........in a good way. Flavors are off the chart and the portions leave you extremely satisfied. Definitely will be back. STAT!

If I could give - a no star to this place I would Myself and my wife in our last visit to this place was horrible the owner s son is immature rude and disrespectful I would never set a foot in that place because of his lack of customer service and professionalism We were treated poorly and we decided to leave when they brought us the food . This place is mismanaged stay away you will have a horrible experience, amateur young and inexperienced people running the show

When a work colleague suggested this for lunch I immediately agreed to it. Ironically I had just bookmarked it in my "must try" places on Yelp. The location is in a bustling shopping center and when we walked in the service was quick and we had a nice table within minutes. My friend ordered the falafel for an appetizer and the falafel was light and fluffy. I also got falafel as my main as I ordered the vegetarian sampler. The sampler was a great way to try a lot of options. The sampler included rice, tabbouleh, hummus, falafel, baba ganoush, salad and a dolmas. The baba ganoush had a fantastic smoky quality but was really salty. I mixed it into the rice which helped to disperse the salt. My favorite by far was the hummus. It was so silky smooth and an absolutely fantastic representation of hummus. I tried the chicken shawarma which is a modern take. I liked the spices but confess to a predisposition to the original. My other friend ordered the gyro meat plate and I really liked the meat. It was crispy, fatty and had the right amount of spice.

"I'm sorry. We're closed." "We drove across town to come here." "We close at 9:00." "It's 8:44." "We're closed." And...scene.

This place is simply fantastic. The service is excellent. The menu is diverse. The food is superb. The atmosphere is casual and clean. There is even a sitar player playing renditions of the Beatles and other classics. The price is right and the waiter brought us dessert on the house. I would recommend this place for any occasion and would probably eat here at least once a week if I lived in the area (I'm from Manhattan). If you live anywhere in the Denver area, you are missing out if you haven't been to Ali Baba!

  • Broarquello A.

I would travel across Denver and maybe even half the state for Hassan's food (the chef)! I think this is my 2nd review for this location and I've been to all 3 locations. The mushroom appetizers are to die for and I crave them nearly daily. Seriously, I would hire this man right now as my personal chef if I had the income right now! Service has always been fast and friendly here. The only thing that may be missing is a nice patio for summer.

  • Phil H.

I really like Ali Baba. The food is definitely authentic middle-eastern, in the same vein as Jerusalem's in the DU area. The decor is fancy, but comfortable. The staff is polite and helpful. The hummus is one of my favorites in Denver, and I am also a fan of their gyro. Sometimes, as mentioned in other reviews, there's a bit of a wait for entrees during the lunch rush, but that just means more hummus to enjoy while you wait! Portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. Can't go wrong, if you're into this sort of food.

Absolutely delicious! My husband had the lamb curry and I had the king combo. Both were incredibly good!

I visited this restaurant to get the ground chicken kabob, which they call as "Chicken Kobideh Kabob". I have been looking for this kind of kabab in Denver and all the other places I have been to, in Denver, serve the chicken cube kabob. I was very happy with the taste of the kabob (FYI - I am a bit picky about kababs :) ) Its not 5 stars because I feel they can improve the kababs (I have had better kababs in bay area and east coast), but I would still recommend this restaurant, as, by far, I have found it to serve the best Kababs in Denver.

  • Shane M.

We have yet to be disappointed here. Every time we go the food is fresh, the meat is perfectly cooked and everything is full of flavor. Truly one of our favorites when we want to go out. BTW, we tried the grilled mushrooms tonight for the first time. Possibly the best restaurant mushrooms I've ever had. Piping hot, cooked to perfection, not slimy, not mushy and fantastic flavor. If there's a knock it's that weekday lunch service can be a bit slow sometimes, but it's worth the wait!

  • Jessica T.

I was underwhelmed. The food was ok, but nothing better than some of my other Mediterranean favorites. I had the lunch gyro sandwich, huge at a great price of $5.50, but really lacking flavor. The pita was soft, and there was a lot of meat but the meat was cut very thick and was pretty bland. The tzatiki sauce was also bland and almost not existent. I did appreciate the very fresh lettuce and tomato on it. It was so boring I chose not to finish it, which rarely happens with me. My friend had the Greek salad and it was large and very fresh looking, though I can't attest to flavor but she seemed to enjoy it. We also shared the hummus and grape leaves (dolmathes) appetizers. The grape leaves were what I've come to expect from mediocre restaurants- not fresh. Seriously, the soaked in oil way to serve grape leaves at most places is terrible; I've had freshly prepared dolmathes that put anything less to shame. And the hummus was ok; pretty bland and the texture was so creamy it was almost unrecognizable. The pitas served with it were cardboard thin and tasted about the same. The service was attentive. The decor nice and "authentic". Sadly the cheap lunch prices won't bring me back for what I considered very mediocre food.

Unable to leave negative stars. Walked in to 1 server running grabs us to a table, wipes table, gives us 1 menus.....and then nothing. 15 minutes of no service, no drink order not even a be right there. We love the Golden Location. So we went to Yanni's instead. Very sad Ali Baba. You lost A LOT of money tonight and forever.

I work near this location and have been wanting to try this place, the food was okay at best. Was thinking about giving it another try until I got a call from the fraud department of my bank..apparently they have a criminal working there, my card had been skimmed. If you do go there PAY CASH ONLY!!

  • Bobby H.

The only reason this is not a 5-star review has to do with minor service issues (they can be slow with the business lunch rush on weekdays) but here is how I look at it: You can have great food, great prices, great service: pick 2. The prices are seriously awesome - their lunch specials are a great value - lot of food and it's GOOD food; not low-quality slop like most reasonably priced alternatives. My favorite is the chicken kabob lunch special. I am Persian and I am a kabob expert - these people have some of the best in town, although their koobideh is not my favorite.

I liked Ali Bab Grill, at least what I tried so far. I went with a co-worker and ordered the Sharma Chicken. Slightly salty, good, served on a bed of rice. The co-worker got a Gyro, which I didn't try. It looked a nice healthy size. . .and looked yummy. We also scored a hummus and pita as an appetizer (appetizers on the last page???). From a service standpoint the waitress was friendly, but didn't seem to know where Lebanon was, let alone what Lebanese food was. The PITA wasn't anything special. The chicken was great, and I liked the rice. The hummus was really really good - loved it. Prices were reasonable and dinner looked to max out at around 12-13 for each meal. I will be back.

I had no idea what ot expect when I walked into this place. We oreded that babaganoush and kabob. the lunch prices were very reasonable and the food was delish! It came with a small salad as well and I had more than enough food. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the service. The servers are very friendly, but slow. Do not come here if you are in a hurry or you have less than an hour. That being said, on days when I have some more time, I like to come here. It is in a great location right across from a large parking garage

Wow. I mean WOW. This was the hands down worst lunch I have had all year. All aspects were just horrible. I met a friend from out of town here for lunch and from the other reviews I thought it would be better than average, but boy did I miss the mark on that one. Our waiter was completely inattentive and we had to hunt him down to order a second beer and to get more water. The food: The hummus was horrible. Way too much tahini and not enough garlic. It was like eating creamy peanut butter with too much olive oil. The dolmades were weird. Warmed up in the microwave to a sort of hot, sort of warm temperature that just didn't work. The fried kibbeh was okay, heavy on the onions though. My entree was two ingredients. Nasty dry rice and cold, dry gyro meat that was plopped onto my plate and then plopped in front of me. I was genuinely embarrassed for having suggested this place, maybe I should have tried Yanni's. But I can't bring myself to go to a place named after that no-talent cheeseball. Look elsewhere my friends.

Came here with the family this past week for dinner. We got there early and had pretty good service, but as we left thirty minutes later, I noticed a reserved table for 16 being set, and the main dining room filling up fairly quickly - so I wondered how the two servers I saw that evening would be able to accommodate the restaurant. Our server was very friendly. The food was pretty good - it tasted very fresh and was reasonably priced. I ordered the vegetarian platter, which while very good, seemed like it was missing one component for the price they charge (i.e. - one more fallaffel). My husband asked the server to describe one of their dishes that had okra in it, and this is what she said, "I don't know, I've never had it, I know that some people love it and some people hate it, but we can't give samples, sorry." First, she's never tasted some of the dishes she serves? That's ridiculous. Second, I wasn't thinking about asking for a sample, but since she brought it up, why can't they do samples if they don't know what the food tastes like? So, my husband did not get the okra dish and ordered something else instead. I'd try this place again, but I'm not rushing back.

Yelp says I'm the "duchess" here somehow, so I suppose I've checked in a few times too many. :) We take any opportunity to have lunch or dinner here! Upscale feel in a beautiful building with perfect hummus and excellent Mediterranean menu options. Also, the Chai tea is delicious and usually the waiter or waitress will just keep refilling your cup every time they come by. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu as far as I'm concerned.

Quick, easy, cheap and SO good - the perfect lunch spot for a daytime date with the hubs. I had the chicken shawarma pita and hubs had gyro - yum yum yum. Mine was so flavorful - sauce on chicken as well as sauce in pita were both very good. Service was good and bill was under $20. I will be back!

Hands down my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Too bad there's not one in Texas. The service was great and the food superb. I've never had a more fresh hummus on my life. The lamb kabob was delicious and tender. Very highly recommend!

Passable food but you'll never know because you'll never get it. This is near work so we went once and service was eto slow for an hour lunch but it was passable. Went Weds and were never served. Not menus, not water, nothing. Sitting right in front of the bar, after 15 mins I grabbed menus for us. At 20 mins, I asked a girl of she was or waitress. She didn't know, said she'd be back soon. At 30 mins, without a word from the staff, we walked out. They weren't busy. They're just incompetent. Go elsewhere.

Very tasty! Awesome Baba Ganoush and Falafel. My husband enjoyed the gyro plate and I was jealous of my friend's grilled seafood kabob. Liked the Labanese Red Wine. Friendly service and good prices. Will definitely be back.

This is one of my all time favorite places to eat! It is the best hummus I've ever had, I wish I knew how to make hummus that smooth and creamy, I can't even get close, how do you do it, hooooooooowwwwwwwwww?!?!?!?!? Anyway, I also really enjoy their falafel, chicken schwarma, and chicken kebabs!!! Mmmmm, everything there is delicious and the staff is nice!

Food: Decent choice and taste of middle eastern food (I am biased as I grew up in that part of the world and have tasted the "real thing", which in fairness to that restaurant, can only be found in very few places in the US, especially in bigger cities with larger diasporas, such as NY, Chicago, LA, Houston, etc ...) - We tried, among other things, their kebab combo (minced meat, chicken skewer and lamb skewer ... and it was tasty. Staff: Friendly Restaurant: Clean and functional Would I go again? Not sure, for the reasons mentioned above. However, the place is often full for lunch and has its loyal followers. Would I recommend it? Same as above. Other: All in all, not a bad experience at all; just not a great one for somebody who is familiar with this type of food.

We went here for my Mom's birthday and wow was it good! The only thing to complain about was that it was SUPER COLD in the restaurant. Granted it was 0 outside but only 3 of us in a party of 10 took our coats off. So I would recommend going on a slightly warmer night unless you enjoy the cold! I had the King Combo and I thought it was a great way to really sample the menu. The vegetarian portion was really good and the meat was amazing! Everyone at the table who had any of the kabobs really enjoyed them but they make some really good lamb here! My wife had the shrimp curry and enjoyed it, although she said it could have used a bit more spice. All in all we really enjoyed the food but we will return on a warmer day!

I hate to say this because I'm not one to leave one star reviews but I have to this time- TERRIBLE service and MEDIOCRE food. There's literally one guy who acts as the server, host, busser and manager. We waited nearly twenty minutes before he took our order and to top it off he messed up two orders, forgot one and didn't bring water or silverware out until I went up and asked for it. I ordered the King Combo and it was a messy display of dry meat that tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp with lettuce and tomatoes on the side (aka the vegetarian plate). I would say stick with Garbanzo or Saj before trying this place out.

I eat lunch here about once a week. Even though I tend to eat the same thing each time, consistently good food and great service. Good for lunch meetings. Can get busy around noon - but that is not surprising.

We went to lunch here today and honestly, I'm not sure why we won't go more often! The lunch specials are terrific. I had a lamb kabob that came with rice and a salad for $7.95. Its a great value and wow- the seasoning on the lamb is absolutely delicious! Hubs had the gyro sandwich for $4.95 (Cheeeeeeeeeap) and added fries for $2.00. He thought the gyro was great and the price is right for sure. Most of the items here are naturally gluten free which is always good for me!

Delicious lunch. We started with the grilled mushrooms which were really nicely seasoned. The house salad wasn't spectacular but it was fresh and loaded with cucumber and tomatoes. My lamb kabobs were yum. Not doing rice so they allowed me to sub the babaghanoush. Can't spell it but can say it was very good with a pool of olive oil swirled on top. Win! My hub and son gave the gyro two thumbs up as well. Nice atmosphere to boot.

Get those Pies, especially the meat and mohamara pie. They make them fresh and they are very flavorful. And get that kafta kebob! OMG deliciousness ! Smoky juicy goodness! I have always been here after lunch hours, yes I do eat lunch at 3 pm, but these guys are super welcoming and make the most delicious food at odd hours too. As for the rest of the food, it is as good as their other locations and my preferred choice of restaurant if i am in the area.

I used to go to the branch in the ranch, and i missed the DTC lunch group -so i finally got myself over there. Staff is pretty young and friendly. I mentioned the "sister" restaurant on colorado - and was told it had been closed for a while - i chuckled and said i have moved out of the ranch quite a while ago! Glad they didn't close up completely! Lunch specials are great! 4.95 for a bubbah ganoosh sandwhich - although i had food envy of my friend's veggie platter for 7.95 - she'll have 1-2 more meals out of that! My sandwich was tasty! Location is cute, very beefy furniture, lots of light at the front, cozy on the sides! If you drive, park in the bottom of the structure and walk on over.

Okay, I'm an out-of-towner staying in the Denver Tech Center area. Spent an hour or so searching Google for something "inspirational." I'm stingy when it comes to food -- high standards, compared with the average American. This place really exceeded any expectation I had. We got the meat platter for 2 -- meatballs, chicken, and lamb kabobs, with a side of Rice, Hummus, and a (large) salad. Everything was really unbelievable. The salad was Iceberg-free, and instead had crisp romaine, tomatoes, and cucumbers dressed ever so lightly. It was perfect. The rice was good, with a nice hint of spice on top (sumac, perhaps?). Hummus was tahini-heavy and very, very creamy, just how I liked it. It almost worked as a dressing if you ate it with the meat pieces rolled in a piece of pita. The lamb was cooked perfectly for me -- a little on the well-done side, just a slight touch of pink in the center. That's how I prefer it for this kind of cuisine. The chicken had a similar texture and was seasoned PERFECTLY (seriously, my dinner-mate and I couldn't believe the amazing flavor from a simple piece of chicken). The meatballs were good, seasoned inside-out and well done. Again, that's to my liking. And then there was dessert. Couldn't eat food from a place like this and not have the Baklava. I've had some good baklavas -- dated a greek girl, for one. This was at least twice is good as any other I've had. The difference was the sweetness -- just the right amount. It actually was a little less sweet than I expected, but towards the bottom side of the pastry, layers of honey caramelized between the layers of phyllo giving a satisfying crunch on the back end, hitting you with the spiced sweetness that you would expect on the front end. If you've seen the children's animated movie "Ratatouille" and you remember the hard-to-please dining man looking for "Inspiration" from the dish he was served....this gave me that feeling. Sooo good! Will likely be back before the trip is done.

I absolutely love the food here. The service is not so great, so do not be in a hurry or on a deadline if you stop in here for lunch or dinner. I stopped in for lunch one day and there was only one server on the floor while the place was packed. But the velvety-smooth hummus and the smoky baba ghanoush keep me coming back here as do the pieces of tender gyro meat that melt in your mouth. A little out-of-the-way but once you find it, you'll keep coming back!

Yummy! Great food and service. I had the gyro sandwich which was full of meat and the sauce was fabulous! So many restaurants put way too much sauce on their gyro, this was perfect. I also had a spinach pie, that was very tasty! We will be back!

My friend and I met here for lunch today and I experienced something I still have a hard time believing. As my friend and I were enthusiastically catching up, we noticed that 10 minutes after sitting down we still hadn't been approached by a server with menus. Since nobody was around, we decided to just grab a couple on the counter so we would be ready to order. Fast forward another 15 minutes and we again realized our server still hadn't come around a single time. One employee walked by and we stopped her and asked who was our server. She said she had no idea but she'd figure it out and bring water. Five minutes later there was still no signs of life and my friend and I stood up and walked out. We didn't make a big scene nor did we treat anyone poorly (we actually didn't even get a chance to interact with anyone!). I'm still a little in shock about what happened. I hope nobody else has this experience.

Inexpensive. Got a gyro sandwich as a 'baseline', it was decent but nothing special. Was not impressed by the falafel appetiser, although I thought it was a cute touch to make them heart shaped. Sadly that didn't make up for them being overly dry and without much flavour (I am a bit of a falafel snob I admit.) I would eat here again if I needed something cheap and quick, but I will probably try something different. Atmosphere is relaxed, quiet.

Visited the first time today for lunch. When we entered, we saw quite a few take out orders. I thought 'they seem busy'. The service was slow and the food ( I had the chicken schwarma (sp) sandwich) well, let's say left something to be desired. It was flavorless and the pieces of chicken, tomatoes were all too big for the pita. I would like to think the restaurant was having an 'off' day. Not sure if we will return or refer others.

Perfect service. Top notch Mediterranean food from their Lebanese perspective. Liked it all. Room feels a bit "family fast food" ish. But doesn't detract in a big way from the food and personalized service. Recommended.

Very friendly staff and BEST hummus! Curry shrimp over rice was just perfect. I only wish a little improvement for interior furniture such as table/chair to elevate restaurant class to blend better with neighbors.

Am I the only one who can't get Rhymin and Stealin from the Beastie Boys out of their head while dining here? I don't think I've ever had a restaurant make me want to break out some Beasties but I'm not opposed to it. So the reviews on here are true, great food and lunch specials but service is slow as molasses. I went here for lunch today and am surprised I haven't heard more about it since I work within walking distance. I walked over and when I went in was a bit confused if you sit down or order at the monstrosity that is their counter. There seemed to be two guys running the place during lunch and they told me to have a seat and they would be with me. They have a patio, albeit a small patio consisting of three tables right off to the side and only one was taken so score for al fresco dining! We didn't have one server as both of the guys running the show seemed to be helping whoever they could at the moment so we got a little of each one. Each guy was nice but it took forever to get water, our bill, etc and when we were ready to pay I had to go inside to give them our money since corporate America was awaiting my return. And now for happy stuff......like food. Holy wow, their gyro meat is off the hook (get it?) but for real, it was amazing. Their lunch specials are only $7.95 and with that you get a salad and huge portion of rice and when they brought out my gyro meat lunch, my eyes bugged out. So much meat that I thought I was going to get the meat sweats! Their gyro is perfectly seasoned and succulent that you can run your fork through it and be done. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the entire plate but damn, I was hungry and was practically licking my plate clean of the gyro meat. If anything, I will definitely be back for that alone however I may be ordering to go next time around.

Being the closest lunch place to my office (besides THe SPOT bar), my love of Ali Baba is both for convenience and the food. Okay- its the food. First, you have to start with the hummus appetizer! A must! The grape leaves are the thin, slightly bitter type, but super yummy. Their equivalent of Turkish pide is good as a side item (especially to the hummus plate) but is not a meal in itself. The lunch specials are a great deal at $7.99 (main meat, rice and big bowl of salad) but it quickly add up with you get the hummus appetizer with it- because you need the hummus! I have noticed that their salads can sometimes be a bit watery, so I also ask for them to be spun twice. Their coffee is bad, but the tea is good. Overall, it is a great place for food!

Had a great lunch and a great price. Prepare to take food home or get something lite, because the meat plates are unreal. Business casual place to take a buddy or a client. ...and get an order of falafel (the best that I've had)!

If you say you're open until 9. Then be open until 9! I showed up at 8:35 and was told they were closing by one of the two main guys who was hanging out next to the back door. I was turned down at 8:50 a few nights before by another guy counting his till in the window - he waved me on. I will not return again... The food isn't even that good and the service is subpar. I'll stick with Tzatzikis.

Any place that has me coming back the same week for a second visit wins in my book! Conveniently located in The Landmark, right across from the parking garage entrance (parking is usually a bear in The Landmark), this place is great for lunch. I had a gyro + (an entire bowl full of) fries on my first visit - ahh-maze-ing! The lamb was so moist and juicy. Tried a salad on the second visit - it came with just as much lamb on the salad as was in my gyro. WINNING! One caveat - if you're trying to get in & out for lunch, you may want to ask for the check when your food is delivered. This place is a bit slow on the service - I love that they're not pushy but at lunch, I'm usually on a time crunch. So by asking for the check when our food is dropped, I can pay when I'm ready and leave when I need.

Yelp needs to allow half stars. This is a 3 1/2 star restaurant if I've ever seen one. I ordered take out for the family: an assortment of pies, which aren't pie shaped, a very expensive and tiny lamb shank, and some pretty good baba ganouj. All of the pies were good, and the muhamara was outstanding. The lamb shank was the size of a McD's burger, but tender, and my daughter loved it. It came with rice, salad, and the worst hummus I have ever had. Hummus is NOT 90% tahina and 10% lemon juice, but this was. The restaurant is upscale, efficient, and expensive. Our meal cost me $33. I work nearby, and I'll be back, but maybe just for the pies.

It's not your typical 5-star restaurant but our experience left me full and satisfied without one complaint! Stopped by after seeing a movie at the Landmark and wanting to try something new and different. The restaurant was practically empty, leaving us free to grab any table that we wanted. We cozied up on the comfy cushions of the benches that line the restaurant and were quickly waited upon. We ordered Kibbeh to start off our meal and the King Combo to split. The Kibbeh was hot upon arrival but so delicious, me and my friend risked burning the roofs of our mouth. It came with 3 pieces and neither one of us was reluctant to let the other have more so each had 1.5. Yes, it was that good. The King Combo came with everything, perfect for people like us who couldn't settle on just one dish. We got to try their creamy hummus, tabouleh, greek salad, falafel, grape leaves, chicken, beef, and lamb all on one plate! The standouts for me were all of the meats that were cooked and seasoned to perfection. We were both too full to try any dessert but I'm sure that would be wonderful as well. It came out to about ten bucks a person, you can't beat that price for dinner anywhere else in the Landmark! I would definitely come back when I have authentic Middle Eastern on the brain.

I've been there a few times for lunch and every time I go there, I'm more and more impressed. More importantly, the coworkers I've taken there have been equally impressed. Their Gyro is the best I've tasted yet. Flavors just jump out at you when it hits your tongue. They Chicken Shwarma is second to none. Again, lots of flavors jumping out at you and you look forward to returning.

We gave Ali Babba Grill a try because it has good reviews on Yelp and it is in the BOGO program we got for supporting Colorado Public Radio. Very very good experience for a casual dinner. Food was delicious and portions so large we could have fed a family of 4 from 2 meals . Hummus is golden! Salad fresh and tangy. The service was spot on and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. This place is clean!

I initially was leaning towards 3 stars but the combination of quality and price for the area made it somewhere I will definitely go back to. Gyro meat was grilled to a nice slightly crisp doneness, rice was great, salad was tasty, and all for roughly $8. Portion size was better then expected, the service could've been better but not bad enough to stop me from going back.

Great place for lunch! You can get a sandwich with meat or falafel for under $5 bucks! The seating is cozy and the service is friendly and fast. I will definitely be back!

I stopped in here for a gyro mi-afternoon in the middle of the week a while back. I think I was one of only three customers in the restaurant. My gyro was decent, but not exceptional. The meat was good, but not great. The flat-bread was pretty good. However, the tzatziki (or equivalent) was sub-par. The three lunch specials at Ali Baba are: one skewer of your choice (lamb, kobideh, beef, or chicken kabob) with rice and salad, a beef/lamb gyro, or a chicken shawarma. I was in the mood for a gyro, so I choose poorly. I am starting to think that I should stick to gyros from Greek restaurants (like Yanni's on the other side of the parking lot) and instead order shawarma when I go to Middle Eastern establishments.

Ali Baba Grill is a fantastic place for an inexpensive lunch. I'm all about the $5 falafel sandwich, but the truth is they have several sandwiches for that same low price. You can also find quite an assortment of entrees, appetizers, soups and salads for reasonable prices. It's not the fastest dining experience I've had for lunch, especially if there are a few folks in your party so I wouldn't recommend going here if you are short on time. But, if you have a standard hour, or more, it's a good option in the DTC.

    (4)
  • T T.

Casual and nice atmosphere. Amazing food, all very flavorful and simple. Very well priced too. Highly recommend getting gyro sandwich even for dinner at $4.95 and an appetizer. The entrees give you more food which is usually too much for 1 person. Also a great vegetarian place.

This was our first time here. We used a Restaurant.com certificate and I looked at reviews from other yelpers prior to purchasing it. We really liked the place and will return. Decor is nice and it's a warm, open space. There were 2 waiters and they were both very attentive. We started with the Sambusek w/cheese. It was good, not great. I think it needed a bit more seasoning. As it was our first time, we ordered the Meat Combo for 2. It came with hummus, which was also good. I think mine is much more flavorful however. The salads had a really yummy dressing. The combo comes with lamb, chicken, and beef. Lamb and beef were quite good, but the chicken was a bit dry. I noticed another yelper commented on this too. If I order chicken again I will make a note to mention it not be overcooked. Overall very pleasant meal and experience. We were there for almost 2 hours and never felt like they wanted to get rid of us. We also left extra tip for the great service.

  • Megan N.

Great, authentic Middle Eastern. Also a slightly cheaper and more casual option than the rest of the Landmark restaurants. Staff was very friendly. I ordered the veggie platter which for only $10 was more than enough for several people. And the humus is the best I have had in a very long time!! Busy at lunch but pretty dead at dinner...I hope business picks up for them because they deserve it!

A find if you can find it (as a tourist I'm unused to the sparse street lighting and signage permitted in Greenwood Village, use your GPS). Tastefully decorated. Ample Lebanese/Persian menu features kabobs, gyros, falafel, etc.; mint tea, Chai tea, Turkish coffee. Excellent Middle Eastern food at Denny's prices. Generous portions. Good service.

  • Josh M.

Not sure why people think this place is so good. Nothing is marinated, they just throw some Mediterranean seasoning salt on everything, even the rice. The hummus was so so. Won't be coming back.

  • Daron S.

Ali Baba is a good spot for an lunch in the DTC. They have a handful of sandwiches for around $5 and lunch specials around $8. I ordered the chicken shwarma lunch special. It was good and there was plenty of food. I loved that it came with a basket of pita bread. The service was standard and the place filled up during the noon hour. The decor is charming and the space is light and bright.

Holy cow! Some of the best falafel I have ever had! The ground chicken and ground lamb kebobs are so seasoned very well. Just an awesome meal.

Got a chicken shawarma pita for lunch. Was the sandwich delicious? Yes Was it a lot of food for the money? Absolutely Was it crispy chicken cut off the spit? No! Will someone please tell me where in Denver I can go where I will walk in and see gigantic hunks of chicken and lamb roasting on a spit from which my meat will be freshly sliced? Please!

The gyros sandwich here is pretty good; when compared to others I've had around town, Ali Baba Grill gets it right. The hummus here is also pretty good. Bottom line: if you're in the area and want good Mid Eastern food, Ali Baba Grill DTC will do the trick.

Convenient located on Greenwood Plaza, nice decoration, excellent food and lunch menu what make it affordable for lunch. The place is quite, good for a conversation during lunch hour. I had the Lamb Kabob lunch special, what comes with a salad plate. Well prepared, fast service and really friendly staff. I definitely will be back to try different options.

I went here the other day with my sister and had a great meal. The food was incredible and the ambiance was very inviting. We were served by a cute blond girl who I believe was named Ali. She was very attentive, had a great personality, and made great recommendations. Five stars around the board for service, food and ambiance. Can't wait to come back.

We are new to the area and trying out local restaurants. Ali Baba was one of the first we tried and we really enjoyed it. It was not busy, we were greeted and seated quickly. We were served hummus and pita bread while waiting for our food. The hummus was good but different than I'm used to. It had a bit of a cheesy flavor. My 3yo daughter who usually loves hummus didn't care for it, but my husband and I did. I ordered the Hummus Be-Shawarma with chicken. I absolutely LOVED it. My husband ordered Chicken curry. His was good but he wanted it spicier. This is a place we will definitely be going to again.

Walking into this restaurant might seem an odd experience the first time. There's no transition area between the dining room and the door, so expect to get angry looks on a cold winters night from nearby tables. Walk past the huddled diners and find a seat because you are in for a treat. The grape leaves are solid, as is the hummus. The baba ghanouj! OMG! The baba ghanouj might be the best ever. Nice texture, almost a smoky finish. The falafel.. a bit too oily and hard. Only downside to this meal. Plenty of leftovers too.

Service was phenomenal - well informed made great recommendations. We had fabulous appetizer that included feta cheese and other fun stuff in won ton wrappers. The lentil soup was fabulous, as was the gyro meat. We absolutely loved our lunch here and highly recommend it!!

Again, very delicious. The gyro meat is so good and the tomatoes and lettuce is so fresh! They now have their liquor license (beer and wine for now) so that is good news.

I was super pleased to find the 2nd location of Ali Baba Grill within 5 minutes of my office in the new landmark area. I've only been once so far, but the food and service met my experiences with the original Golden location. Now I have a closer option for dinner take out as a special surprise for my husband who LOVES their gyros!

  • Stan H.

What a great place. The staff is very nice, decor is very casual and the food is fantastic. Had the all meat kabob combo and it was great. The sauce (server called it there version of salsa) rocks. Meal comes with a salad, hummus and pita bread and rice all for under $20! If your are looking for good meditaranean food in south Denver near the tech center this is a great choice.

  • Kelly M.

Okay I realize that I have taken Ali Baba Grill down a star since my last trip but that's because the service just sucks there. I also really dislike their hummus which taste like they added peanut butter. The shwarmma is still awesome which is why they have not dropped off my radar completely. I just wish the service was far better and the place was not so messy. It seems like every time I have gone to Ali Baba they have more dirty tables that need to be bussed then they have clean tables or occupied tables. Maybe they just need to hire some more people?!?

Having lived in Europe and married to a man of Armenian descent, I know how middle eastern food should taste. This place falls short. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't exactly good either. The hummus was flavorless and the consistency of Gerber baby food. The pita breads were nice, but half were burnt. The salad dressing was tasty, but the tomatoes are unripe, pink and tasteless served with iceberg lettuce and cucumbers. We had the lentil soup which was nice and hot, but once again somewhat bland. My entree was the chicken skewer with rice. While the marinade was tasty, the chicken was overcooked and it was skimpy on the onions and peppers. A sauce was served alongside that tasted exactly like Tabasco. Yuk. There was a blob of burnt tomato as a garnish which wasn't even seasoned! I asked for some tahini and tzaziki sauces to try to add some flavor but they fell short as well. All in all it was bland food except for my hubby's gyros. The missing ingredient in the other food was garlic! The sumac on the table was not fresh and also had no flavor. Sorry. This place was not as fabulous as written. Probably because these folks don't know authentic middle eastern food?

I got the vegetarian plate, and it was lacking a bit flavor. My husband, however, got the meat plate and loved it. The hummus was good, though, and the service was polite.

Took my parents here and they loved it. We all had kebobs and they were awesome. Chicken was tender and juicy, lamb done medium rare,, great hummus, decent decor. They have a coupon on their website! I would definitely go here again.

Awesome little joint, way underpriced for the food size, the preparation care, ambience, and staff. Open sunday nights for a low key dinner. Great Chicken Shwarma, just right, not too heavy or over sauced.
